Grief as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the property managing the setup of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, according to reports.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a individual with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
